ORNITHOLOGY

Statement: It’s a search for new paths that have to do with immersion, abandonment and the creation of new roots. Roots that are dynamic, evolving and capable of supporting the other. Respecting the idea of rootedness and projecting it into a kaleidoscopic, faceted world.

INNER SPACES : Out on 21 March 2025

INNER SPACES
Trumpeter, santur player, vocalist, and composer Amir ElSaffar joins electronics performer and composer Lorenzo Bianchi-Hoesch in a new project exploring electro-acoustic spaces, maqam, microtonal harmonies, and improvised and composed structures in a modular musical composition that accommodates a variety of musical styles across genres. Together, they create an immersive sound that transcends notions of form, musical language, electronic, and acoustic categories in music. This new work will be a modular composition combining pre-determined structural elements with freely improvised sections, played live by ElSaffar and Bianchi-Hoesch. The work will explore electro-acoustic spaces in a microtonal environment that embraces the sonic spectra of multiple musical languages.
Bianchi-Hoesch and ElSaffar are interested in creating a transcultural collaboration combining jazz, contemporary classical music, maqam, raga, and other musical backgrounds, inclusive of all the richness, complexity, and idiomatic expression, without compromising or oversimplifying in order to be compatible with others. They are in search of boundary-less spaces in music.

RADICANTS : Out on 20 September 2024

RADICANTS
A unique musical project whose core reveals a certain “poetics of relationship”.
The encounter between western electronic soundscapes and an instrument as ancient as the kora (lute harp native to West Africa) gives rise to a musical experience of exploration and immersion.
The acclaimed composer and sound artist Lorenzo Bianchi Hoesch meets the virtuosity of Ballaké Sissoko, one of the most prominent artists on the ethnic and jazz scene. The concert fosters an exchange between electronic and acoustic sounds, between contemporary and traditional approaches, between Europe and Africa.
In this encounter the focus is not on opposition, but on evolution and relationship, in which musicians and audience find themselves sharing the same acoustic space, immersed in the same soundscape.
A unique musical project whose core reveals a certain “poetics of relationship”.

NOTES ON THE MEMORY OF NOTES

NOTES ON THE MEMORY OF NOTES

Lorenzo Bianchi Hoesch: Electronics
Fabrizio Cassol: Sax
Adèle Viret: Cello

At the heart of this musical proposal is the search for microtonal harmonic freedom and real-time electronics, where the subtlest nuances and hidden colors of the notes emerge in the dialog between the instruments and the sound treatment.
A unique and fascinating sonic journey, where writing and improvisation meet to explore new territories. Fabrizio Cassol on saxophone, Adele Viret on cello and Lorenzo Bianchi Hoesch on electronics combine

ANOTHER OPTION : Out on 30 May 2024

ANOTHER OPTION
By nature hostile to any kind of purism, putting elements that come from very distant cultures on the same level, I believe that writing music has more to do with connecting elements scattered in the contemporary world than dealing with a blank sheet or a virgin session of a sequencer.
