Rausch

Composition | Sound concept | Richard Siegal

Rausch was a flash of lightning — a one-night event that brought nearly 2,000 people into a different facet of the Nuremberg Opera. Lorenzo Bianchi Hoesch’s electronic music circulated throughout the theatre, binding together orchestral pieces, chamber music, choir, dancers, and actors into a single experience. A magnificent collaboration with Richard Siegal and the Ballett Nürnberg.

Created for the Theaterfest opening the 2026/27 season, Rausch turned the opera house into an open space shared by artists and audience. Guided along winding paths behind the scenes, spectators found ballet, opera, drama, the Staatsphilharmonie, the choir and the children’s choir of the Staatstheater merging into one living whole, with no hierarchy between the art forms.
