LISTEN TO THE ALBUM
99 is the number that all the foreign people , in France, has on their security number card.
If you’re not born in France you got this number on your documents. It is like a ghost department where different cultures melt and mix.
The music i wrote it’s a composition that organises the improvisation and the talent of the extraordinary musicians who participate to the project.
When I started to compose for this group of musicians, I imagined on the one hand the necessity of agile and flexible compositions capable of adapting to such particular sounds and people, on the other that it was absolutely necessary to refuse any ethnomusicological approach and instead to use the available elements as sound and musical sources, as elements for a contemporary creation.
Musical writing is therefore based on these two pillars: encompassing all elements – timbres, instruments, maqâm or Indian râgas scales… -, and avoiding any connoted approach ignorer to build a close dialogue among all the instruments.
The result it is a choral and layered music built around the electronics music, heart of the project.
